There are few things in life as satisfying as taking down a powerful adversary, be it in video games or in the real world. And for many gamers, the God of War series is a virtual playground where they can take on any challenge they desire. But while some bosses may be easy to dispatch, others can be downright daunting. Here are 15 of the hardest bosses in the God of War series:

  1. Hades – In God of War III, you face off against Hades, ruler of the Underworld. This imposing figure is armed with deadly fireballs and an impenetrable shield that makes him difficult to damage. However, once you figure out his patterns and weaknesses, defeating him is a cinch.
  2. Poseidon – In God of War II, you battle Poseidon himself – one of the most powerful gods in Greek mythology. This aquatic deity can summon waves to crush you and shoot out water jets that freeze you solid. But if you stay calm and use your environment wisely, defeating him is definitely possible.
  3. Zeus – In God of War II again, you face off against Zeus himself – ruler of Olympus and one of the most powerful gods in Greek mythology. This towering figure can summon lightning bolts and thunderbolts to strike down his enemies, but he’s also vulnerable to attack from behind (a tactic that Kratos uses to great effect).
  4. Ares – The god of war in Greek mythology is also one tough customer. In God of War III, you have to fight Ares – son of Zeus and goddess Hera (and brother to Apollo). This ruthless warrior is armed with a deadly spear that can pierce through your armor and a shield that blocks all damage. But if you take him down quickly enough (and avoid getting hit by his attacks), victory is yours! ..
