If your car has an oil filter, it needs to be changed every 3,000 miles. If you don’t do this, your engine will start to run rough and you’ll end up spending a fortune on repairs. Here are some tips on how to change an oil filter on a car:
- Locate the filter housing on the front of the car. This is located in between the front bumper and the fender.
- Open the hood of your car and remove the battery cover. Be sure to do this before beginning any work on your engine or oil filter!
- Remove the old filter by using a plunger or vacuum cleaner to push it out from behind the plastic coverings that line up with each other (it should come out easily). Be sure not to damage or remove any of the plastic!
- Place new filter in place and reattach battery cover (if necessary). Replace all screws if they are missing!
