If you’re like most drivers, you probably don’t have a jack handy when it comes time to change your car’s oil. But fear not! There are plenty of other ways to do it, and they’re all pretty easy. Here’s how to do it without a jack:

  1. Park your car on a level surface with the engine off.
  2. Remove the oil cap and unscrew the oil filter housing.
  3. Pour enough oil into the filter housing to cover the bottom of the filter (about 1 quart).
  4. Replace the oil cap and screw on the housing, making sure that the O-ring is in place.
  5. Start your engine and wait until it reaches operating temperature before adding any more oil (a few minutes should be enough). Don’t overfill the filter housing or you’ll end up with clogged filters! ..
