If you’re like most anglers, your fishing reel probably looks a little worse for wear after a day of fishing. Here’s how to clean it and keep it in good shape.

  1. Remove the line from the reel and set it aside.
  2. Pour some warm water into the reel’s body and turn the crank to start the motor.
  3. Add some dish soap to the water and scrub the reel body with a brush.
  4. Rinse off the reel with fresh water and dry it off with a cloth or paper towel.
  5. Reattach the line to the reel and crank it up to full speed to test it out. If everything seems in working order, you’re ready to go fishing again! ..
