If you have a Bissell dirty water tank, it’s important to clean it regularly. Cleaning the tank will help to prevent bacteria from growing and causing problems with the tank or your home. To clean the tank:

  1. Pour a pot of water onto the floor of the tank. Add soap to this pot of water and stir until all of the soap is dissolved. Pour this mixture into the sink and let it run for a few minutes so that all of the soap is mixed in.

  3. Add enough bleach to cover everything in the tank (about 1 cup). Stir until all of bleach is dissolved. Pour this mixture into the sink and let it run for a few minutes so that everything is mixed in.
  4. Add enough water to cover everything in the tank (about 3 cups). Stir until all of water has been added and then pour it over everything in the sink, filling up as needed. Let stand for at least 30 minutes before using or cleaning again!
