Epoxy garage floors are a popular choice for homeowners because they are durable, easy to clean, and look great. However, like any other flooring material, epoxy needs to be cleaned regularly to keep it looking and performing its best. Here are four tips for cleaning epoxy garage floors:
- Use a degreaser. A degreaser will remove dirt, oil, and wax buildup from the surface of the floor. Choose a cleaner that is specifically designed for epoxy surfaces, or use a general cleaner with a degreaser added. Be sure to rinse the floor thoroughly after cleaning to remove all traces of the cleaner.
- Use a vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment. A vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment will help remove larger pieces of debris from the floor. Be sure to use the appropriate attachments – an upright vacuum cleaner can be used for dusting and an attachment called a “crevice tool” can be used for deeper cleaning in tight spaces.
- Use baking soda and water mixture as scrubbing agent. Mix one cup of baking soda with two cups of water in a bucket or container large enough to hold all of the baking soda solution. Wet your hands and scrub the surface of the floor with this mixture until it is clean – be sure to rinse off any residue before putting the floor back in service!
- Use vinegar as scrubbing agent instead of baking soda mixture if you have sensitive skin or if you are using an electronic garage door opener that leaves residues on the surface of your epoxy garage flooring (this is most common with models that use magnets). Vinegar is effective at removing dirt, waxes, and oils from surfaces but does not leave behind residues like baking soda does ..
