If you’re like most RVers, you love your travel trailer’s comfortable and cool air conditioning. But like any other mechanical system in your RV, the AC unit can get dirty and need regular cleaning. Here’s how to do it:
- Check the filters. The first thing to check is the filters - they should be clean and free of debris. If they’re not, replace them (see below).
- Clean the condenser coils. These are located on top of the AC unit near the roof. Use a vacuum cleaner with a crevice tool to clean them thoroughly. Make sure to remove all dust, dirt, and debris before re-coating with insulation sealant (see below).
- Clean the evaporator coils. These are located in front of the condenser coils on top of the unit near the front window/door. Use a vacuum cleaner with a crevice tool to clean them thoroughly - again, make sure to remove all dust, dirt, and debris before re-coating with insulation sealant (see below).
- Cleaning tips: - Always use a mild soap or detergent when cleaning your RV air conditioning system; harsh chemicals can damage components over time - especially if left unchecked by rain or snow melt runoff - Use warm water and a soft cloth when cleaning exterior surfaces; avoid using abrasive cleaners or scrubbers; Never use gasoline or oil-based products on your AC unit; Keep vents clear of leaves, branches, or other obstructions that could block airflow ..
