If you’re looking to add a little more oomph to your images, a vignette might be the perfect solution. Vignettes are a great way to add depth and interest to your photos, and they’re easy to create in Photoshop. Here’s how:
- Open your photo in Photoshop and select the area you want to affect with the vignette. In this example, we’ll select the top left corner of our photo.
- With the Select tool (or your cursor), click and drag diagonally across the selected area. This will create a rectangular selection that covers the entire corner we selected in step 1.
- With the Rectangular Marquee tool (M), click inside of the selection you just created and drag down until you reach the bottom of your photo. Release your mouse button when you reach the bottom of your photo; Photoshop will automatically create a vignette around the selected area. You can adjust the size, shape, and color of your vignette by using these same tools: Select tool (or cursor), Rectangular Marquee tool (M), Edit menu > Fill > Vignette… You can also use adjustment layers to further customize your results: Add an Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation… or Add an Adjustment Layer > Levels… ..
