When you’re buying a new car, it’s important to know how to dismantle it so you can get the most out of your purchase. Here are some tips:

  1. Disconnect the battery. Remove the battery cover and disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
  2. Remove the drivetrain and all of its parts: shifters, driveshafts, crankshaft, and pistons.
  3. Remove all of the fluids and gaskets: oil, coolant, air filters, and brake fluid.
  4. Disassemble everything one piece at a time: shifters, driveshafts, crankshaft, pistons, and bearings if they have them (if not they will need to be replaced).
