When you’re starting out in Illustrator, it’s a good idea to create an artboard. An artboard is a basic structure for creating illustrations and is used to help you plan your illustrations. To create an artboard, select the Artboard tool from the Tools palette and click on the Create New Artboard button. The New Artboard dialog box will appear. In the Name field, enter a name for your new artboard. For example, if you named your new artboard “Art1”, then enter “Art1” in the Name field. In the Size field, you’ll need to provide a size for your new artboard. You can use any size that you like, but it’s best to choose a size that will fit comfortably on your screen. You can also use smaller or larger sizes if you need to make more or less changes to your illustrations. In the Format field, you’ll need to provide some basic information about your new art board. In this field, you’ll need to provide a name for your board (e.g., “Art1”), a size (e.g., “A4”), and some basic information about how your illustrations will be created (e.g., where they will start and end). For example, if you want all of your illustrations to be in black and white, then enter “black&white” in the Format field and click on OK to create your new art board.
