If you’re like most people, you probably don’t have a lot of time to spend on Photoshop. But that doesn’t mean you can’t create some amazing effects with the software! In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to make a clipping mask in Photoshop. First, open up Photoshop and create a new document. We’ll use this document to practice making our clipping mask. Next, select the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) and draw a rectangle around the object you want to protect. Make sure that the “Invert” checkbox is selected in the Options Bar so that the selection will be inverted when we make our mask. Now, go to Layer > New Mask from Selection and click on the OK button. This will create a new layer called “Mask.” The Mask layer will contain our selection, so be sure to select it before we move on. Now, go back to our original document and select the Lasso Tool (L). Draw a lasso around the object inside of our mask’s selection area. Be sure not to include any of the outside edges of our rectangle! Once your lasso is complete, press Enter/Return (PC: Ctrl+Enter/Ctrl+Return) to select all of the objects inside of your lasso. Next, go back to our Mask layer and click on the Add Layer Mask button located at the bottom of the Layers palette. This will add a black mask over all of our selected objects. We can now delete any unwanted parts of our object by clicking on them with your mouse and selecting Delete from the Edit menu (PC: Ctrl+D). Be sure not to delete any parts of your mask! If everything looks good, hit OK in order to save your changes. ..
