If you’re like most people, you probably don’t know how to open the hood of a smart car. Fortunately, it’s not that hard. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Start your car and wait for it to come to a complete stop.
  2. Press and hold the “lock” button on the driver’s side door handle for about two seconds.
  3. While holding the “lock” button, press and release the “unlock” button on the passenger side door handle.
  4. Open the driver’s side door and pull out your key fob or remote control.
  5. Insert your key fob or remote control into the “access” slot on the left side of your car’s hood (near where you would insert a key).
  6. Push down on the hood release lever (near where you would insert a screwdriver) until it clicks into place, then lift up on it until it releases from its track in the hood (be careful not to pinch your fingers!).
  7. Carefully pull open the hood using both hands (it can be heavy). ..
