Android users have long been able to record audio without root, but there are a few caveats. One is that you need to be running Android 4.0 or later, and the other is that you need to be using a device with a microphone. But with the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, there’s now an easier way to do this without having to root your device or use a third-party app. To start recording audio on your Android 6.0 Marshmallow device, open the Settings app and scroll down until you see Audio & Video. Tap on it and then tap on Recording under the Audio section. You’ll now see three options: Voice Recorder, Microphone and Camera (if your device has one). Tap on Voice Recorder and then tap on the green button in the bottom-left corner of the screen to start recording. To stop recording, just tap on the red button in the bottom-left corner of the screen. You can also press and hold down on either side of the microphone icon in the top-right corner of the screen to mute it temporarily or permanently. If you want to export your recordings as MP3s or WAVs, just tap on Export under Audio & Video and then select either MP3 or WAV from the list of options that appears. ..
