If you’re like most people, you probably don’t like the look of old vinyl wrap. It’s outdated, it’s a pain to remove, and it just looks bad. But before you go tearing it all off your car, there are a few things you can do to make the process a little easier. The first step is to determine what kind of vinyl wrap your car has. Most cars from the 1990s and early 2000s have plastic film over the windows that needs to be removed before any other work can be done. If your car has this type of wrap, use a hairdryer set on low heat to soften the film. Once it’s softened, use a credit card or knife to slowly peel it off the window. If your car has vinyl wrap that was applied after 2000, or if it doesn’t have any plastic film over the windows, then you’ll need to remove the paint first. Use a coarse sandpaper to rough up all of the adhesive on both sides of the wrap. Then use a bucket filled with warm water and soap to rinse off all of the adhesive residue. Finally, use a clean cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol to wipe down all of the surface area that was exposed by sanding and rinsing. ..
