If you’re like most people, you probably use a controller to play video games. But if you’re like me, you also use it to do other things, like control your home theater system. And if you don’t have any thumbsticks, then there’s a good chance that one of your controllers is going to go bad in the near future. Luckily, there are a few ways to replace thumbsticks on PS4 controllers without having to go through the hassle of buying new ones. Here are three tips:

  1. Use an old controller as a makeshift thumbstick. This is the easiest and most common way to replace them, but it’s not the best option. First of all, it can be difficult to get an accurate grip on the old stick since it’s made from plastic. Second of all, using an old controller can cause problems with your PlayStation 4’s touchpad and other controls.
  2. Use a gamepad instead. A gamepad is perfect for replacing thumbsticks because it has more buttons and features than an old controller does. Plus, they’re usually much cheaper than buying new ones outright. Just make sure that your gamepad has enough buttons for both thumbs (at least six), and be sure to get one with a lightening connector so that you can easily see which button is being used when you’re playing games online or in multiplayer mode.
  3. Use a remote control device like an Xbox One or Playstation 4 remote control unit. These devices allow you to change settings on your PlayStation 4 without ever having to take off your controller (or even remove your hand from the game). So if all else fails and you still don’t have any thumbsticks, consider using a remote control device instead!
