If you’re like most people, you probably don’t know how to tune a carburetor on your summer car. Here’s how:

  1. Open the hood and remove the air cleaner and fuel filter.
  2. Remove the carburetor from the engine by unscrewing it from the frame.
  3. Locate and remove the air intake tube (if there is one) by unscrewing it from its fitting on top of the engine.
  4. Remove the air filter by unscrewing it from its fitting on top of the engine.
  5. Locate and remove the spark plugs by unscrewing them from their sockets on top of the engine (if there are any).
  6. Disconnect all wires leading to and coming out of the carburetor by pulling them out of their connectors (or breaking them).
  7. Place all components back in place except for the air cleaner and fuel filter, which should be placed back in place in their original positions.
