If you’re ever stuck in traffic and need to clear your windshield, there’s a quick and easy way to do it: just turn off your wipers. Wipers are a great convenience, but they can also be a waste of energy if you never use them. Here’s how to turn them off in your car:
- Park your car in a safe location with plenty of room to spare.
- Turn off the ignition and remove the key from the ignition.
- Open the door on the driver’s side and remove your seat belt.
- Move the gearshift into park and open the door on the passenger side.
- Remove your sunglasses, hat, or other headgear if you have it on and step out of the car onto the pavement or grass area nearby (you don’t want it getting wet).
- Close all of the doors behind you, making sure that you lock them securely once closed (this will prevent children from getting into your car).
- Turn on your headlights so that you can see where you’re going while working with your wiper blades (if they’re not already turned on).
- With one hand holding onto either side of the blade assembly, pull up on one end until it locks into place - then do exactly same thing with other end (see diagram below). 9-11: If necessary, adjust blade height by turning screw at base of blade assembly - remember to release before moving again! - then re-attach front bumper cover & close door securely (see diagram below) 12: Turn off headlights & start engine; wait 10 seconds for blades to stop spinning before returning to parking spot ..
