According to a study by ad agency Dentsu, nearly one-third of all ads are Photoshopped. The study surveyed 1,500 people in the United States and found that 30 percent of ads seen online are doctored in some way. The most common alterations made to ads are adding or removing people, changing the location or time of an event, and altering the color or style of clothing. Ads that are altered tend to be those for products that are more expensive or luxury-oriented, such as cars or cosmetics. While it may seem like Photoshop is being used more often to deceive consumers, the study found that only a small percentage of people (2 percent) admitted to doctoring ads themselves.
